Phone Number QR Code Generator
One scan and your number is already dialled. Good for vehicle signage, yard signs and anywhere typing a number is a nuisance.
How a phone QR code works
The code encodes a tel: link. Scanning it opens the phone's dialler with
your number already entered. On most handsets the person still has to press call, so
it is not possible to trigger a call without their say-so.
Where it earns its keep
- Vehicle signage. Nobody memorises a number off the back of a van.
- Yard and site signs. Passers-by can call while standing in front of the property.
- Emergency and out-of-hours contacts. Fewer digits to fumble under pressure.
- Printed ads. Removes the step where someone types a number wrong and gives up.
Getting it right
Always include the country code. A number saved or dialled without one fails for anyone calling from abroad, and increasingly for anyone whose phone is roaming.
Skip spaces, brackets and dashes. They add nothing and make the code
denser. Digits and the leading + are all that is needed.
Phone codes are among the sparsest you can make, which means they survive small print and poor contrast better than most. This is a good type for stamping on small items.
