How to Customize Your QR Code's Look

Every QR code you create in QRSpike can be styled to match your brand. Adjust the colors, add a gradient, drop in a center icon or your own logo, and finish it off with a border — all from the QR code editor, with a live preview as you go.

Foreground & Background Colors

On the QR code editor's Style options you'll find a color control for the QR modules (the foreground), the background, the center icon, and the border. Each control lets you pick one of our named brand colors or enter an exact hex value (for example #035921) with the color picker so the QR code matches your brand precisely.

Keep strong contrast between the foreground and background — a dark QR code on a light background scans most reliably.

Color Gradients

Want more than a flat color? Tick the Gradient checkbox under the foreground or background color to blend between two colors. Choose a start color, an end color, and the angle of the blend with the slider. Gradients render right into the downloaded image, so they look great in print and on screen.

Saved Brand Palettes

Once you've dialed in a color combination you like, save it as a palette. Your saved palettes appear right below the color controls, so you can apply the same brand colors to every new QR code in one click — no need to remember hex codes.

Add a Center Icon

Click Choose Icon to place an icon in the middle of your QR code from our built-in library. QRSpike automatically clears the modules behind the icon and adds a clean backdrop so the code still scans reliably.

Upload Your Own Icon or Logo

On a paid plan or the free 30-day trial, open the icon picker's My Icons tab to upload your own logo or icon. Uploaded icons are added to your personal library and can be reused on any QR code.

  • Accepted formats: PNG, JPG, GIF, and SVG.
  • Maximum file size: 1 MB. Raster images should be between 64×64 and 1024×1024 pixels.
  • For a crisp result at any size, upload an SVG version of your logo when you have one.

Add a Border

Use the Border option to frame your QR code with a thin, medium, or thick border in the color of your choice. A border adds a bit of quiet space around the code, which can improve scanning on busy backgrounds.
